Keep Independence Alive!

Every patriotic American knows these words from our Declaration of Independence:

“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Americans : Will you unite?

After the 2012 election I wrote the following obituary in memory of our great nation. Although it has only been just over three years, we are beginning to hear Americans interested in a rebirth of our nation. While it is my utmost desire that there are enough Americans who are sincerely ready to get involved in this election, I am still not convinced. Reflections on the death of a nation

This past week American patriots laid to rest the remains of their beloved nation. She was born by generations of suffering and prayers from a persecuted people across the Atlantic. Those people’s prayers to God were heard and He eventually led them three-thousand miles across the ocean with the purpose of carving a nation from an untamed land. This freedom they longed for did not happen overnight and came at a great price…the blood, sweat and tears of millions of her men, women and children.Americans

After several wars were fought against other nations to secure this freedom, she shed even more blood (this time all of it came from her own sons and daughters) to pass along freedom to all of her children. Through all the struggles within her borders, her children’s love of freedom was so great-that on countless occasions she sent her children to foreign lands to shed more of her blood along with that of her allies in an effort to secure freedom for those nations as well.

were called “camp followers” and would support themselves by doing various duties around their camp such as cooking, doing laundry and nursing the wounded. Why do we revere our American flag?

The American Flag – Proudly She Waves!

As I was celebrating Memorial Day this past Monday, my eyes kept focusing on a nearby American flag peacefully fluttering in the breeze. It is hard to express the pride that swells within my heart at the sight of those stars and stripes; however, it struck me how easily we take this beautiful symbol for granted. This one flag has brought freedom where only tyranny once existed. It has brought hope for a better life to its citizens, and to the families who lost loved ones fighting for its cause–our flag provided the reason for their sacrifice! Not everything that has been done under its tenure has been in line with our Judeo-Christian values, but eventually our nation returns to the ideals of our founding. Despite our misgivings, Americans have always been willing to sacrifice whatever was asked of us in order to spread freedom to a dying world. Our flag embodies our nation’s sacrifices, our strengths as well as our weaknesses. It was not haphazardly designed, yet few details were left explaining its design.

As you would expect, our beloved flag is full of symbolism. It contains thirteen stripes to symbolize the original thirteen colonies. It is also common knowledge that the stars represents each individual state that has joined our nation. We now have fifty of the embossed on our flag–a far cry from the thirteen stars that we began with. The remaining symbolism (red, white and blue) is one more of lore than factual records. Historians have surmised that the red stripes symbolizes the blood that has been shed for her ideals.
